A tender conversation about coming back to yourself

Dear Reader

I wanted to share something a little special with you today.

My conversation on the Let Go and Let’s Go podcast was just released, and I have to be honest — listening back to it felt tender.

There is something vulnerable about hearing yourself tell pieces of your own story out loud.

In the episode, Liliana and I talked about somatic work, women’s circles, embodiment, and the journey of coming back to yourself.

But really, the heart of the conversation was about the woman who has done everything “right”…

and still feels disconnected inside her own life.

The woman who has built the life she thought she was supposed to want.

The woman who has read the books, gone to therapy, listened to the podcasts, attended the workshops, gained so much insight…

and still feels like something essential is missing.

I know that woman because I was her.

There was a time in my life when, from the outside, everything looked fine.

More than fine, actually.

I had checked so many of the boxes I thought would make me happy.

But inside, I felt numb.

Lost.

Disconnected from myself.

And I remember one particular moment so clearly.

I was crying on my bathroom floor.

I stood up, looked at myself in the mirror, and thought:

Who is this woman?

That question undid me.

And it also began to open something.

Not all at once.

Not in some neat, polished, overnight-transformation kind of way.

But slowly.

Honestly.

Through my body.

Through feeling.

Through movement.

Through expression.

Through learning how to listen to the parts of myself I had spent years silencing, overriding, and performing over.

One of the things I shared in the conversation is that so much of our story does not only live in the mind.

It lives in the body.

In the breath.

In the muscles.

In the places we tighten, collapse, brace, or go numb.

And this is why thinking alone often doesn’t bring us all the way home.

Sometimes there comes a moment when the body has to be included.

A moment when we stop asking:

“What’s wrong with me?”

And begin asking something much more tender:

What am I feeling?

Where do I feel it?

What does this part of me want me to know?

We also talked about women’s circles, and why I believe so deeply in gathering together.

Because we are not meant to do this alone.

So much healing happens when we are witnessed without needing to perform.

When we hear another woman’s story and realize:

Oh… it’s not just me.

When we remember that our longing to feel alive, whole, and true is not something to be ashamed of.

It is something to honor.

If any of this speaks to something in you, I’d love to invite you to listen to the episode.

And after you listen, maybe take one quiet moment for yourself.

Place a hand on your body.

Take a breath.

And ask:

What in me is asking to be heard?

That one question can be a beginning.

Also, in the next few days, I’ll be sending you an invitation to something I’m really excited about:

Stop Performing. Start Living.
A free 60-minute virtual somatic movement workshop for women.

It’s for the woman who has been holding it all together, doing all the right things, and quietly craving a way back into her body, her truth, and her aliveness.

So keep an eye out for that email soon.

For today, I simply wanted to share this conversation with you.

I hope it meets you somewhere real.

With love,
Teresa

Reader There’s a moment when something shifts. You start to notice the places where you’ve been saying yes when your body means no.Where you’ve been staying quiet to keep the peace.Where belonging has quietly required you to leave parts of yourself behind. And once you see it—you can’t unsee it. In my last letter, I spoke about the invisible weight so many of us carry. The systems that shape us—patriarchy, colonialism, capitalism, conditioning—and how they don’t just live “out there,” but...

I had done many years of therapy and personal transformation work. Twenty years of it. And still something felt off. Like I was missing a piece of myself I couldn't quite find. Maybe you know that feeling too... That sense that no matter how much work you do on yourself, something larger is still...

Reader In my last email I shared something personal. About slowing down. About shedding. About choosing to stop chasing shiny objects and listen more deeply instead. What I didn't tell you was what happened that caused that to open up for me. I was coming off a year-long training program. One that promised something different — feminine leadership, and a more conscious way of working. But what I discovered was that it wasn't feminine leadership at all. It was the same extractive model dressed...
